Monique Borrero had Princess, a Pug mix, for nine years when she decided to adopt Charlie, a Chihuahua mix. Charlie’s mother had been surrendered when she was pregnant, so Charlie had only known life in the shelter before his adoption.
Charlie was happy in his new home, but Princess didn’t really appreciate a new dog in her house. Only later, when Monique took Princess to the veterinarian, did she discover that the dog had cancer and that Charlie was sniffing at the very place where the tumor was located.
Charlie became very attached to Princess and would snuggle with her during her seizures. When she passed away, he started howling. Shortly after that, Monique adopted Lukas, a Miniature Schnauzer mix. His owner had surrendered him, and it wasn’t clear how he had been treated because when Monique picked him up, he went stiff. After a few months, though, Lukas and Charlie became best friends, and he relaxed.
Since the death of Princess, Monique longed for another Pug, so she began looking on Petsbuyandsell.com to see if any were available in her area, which is how Bella came into her life. Bella needed knee surgery shortly after being adopted by Monique, when Charlie stepped up and started licking her wounds and taking care of her just as he did with Princess. All three of these dogs have an inseparable bond now, thanks to their loving owner, who gave them all second chances at happy lives!
